Staff Training

"Those making decision about running schools need to know about information rights. Many data protection failures are caused by ignorance and anything that promotes awareness is to be recommended…Information governance is not optional……To raise staff awareness, consider arranging sessions on inset days"

Information Commissioners Report on Data Protection in Schools 2012

Why Do Staff Need Training in Information Law?

Ensuring that all of your staff (including governors and volunteers) are trained will help the school meet its twin legal obligations of ensuring staff reliability (in data protection terms) and data security.

If your school is investigated for a breach of the Data Protection Act, the regulator will want to know if staff have received appropriate training and when that took place. Training your staff in data protection is therefore critically important. Breaches can lead to enforcement action including fines of up to £500,000 and reputational damage.

How Do I Organise Staff Training?

Firstly, choose a course. See below for a list of our standard courses. If you don't see what you are looking for please contact us. We also offer bespoke training based on specific needs. Then decide if you want to send staff to us to be trained or if you want us to come to your site.
